Psychotherapy

Our approach to psychotherapy is inspired by Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), which is, as the name indicates, an intense form of analytic psychotherapy geared to help people make real change as quickly as they can tolerate. The intensity in this therapy arises from the combined efforts of the patient and therapist to explore and experience previously avoided feelings. Our goal is to get to the root of your issues so that you will be able to make the choice for something different today. Read more about ISTDP here.

Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is pain that continues in the body long after the original insult ought to have healed. It is much more mentally complex than the acute pain people experience immediately after an injury. Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET) is a new type of psychotherapy that takes advantage of the mental complexity of chronic pain in order to help patients find lasting improvement for their pain. EAET is an experiential, emotions-focused therapy designed for groups. A single course of therapy consists of one initial individual session, eight subsequent group sessions, and one final individual session. Medication Management

While all mental health conditions benefit from therapy, in certain situations medication management can be helpful. If a patient is interested in augmenting their therapy with medications, especially for treatment of severe emotional distress or attention deficits, we consider judicious use of medication.
